Notice. Municipal bans are the binding constraint, not the national register: Budapest District VI (Terézváros) is a '0-day' district since 1 January 2026, and the whole city has a moratorium on new registrations through 31 December 2026.

How to register in Hungary

  1. Check the specific Budapest district — District VI bans private short-term rentals outright; districts V, VII and VIII still permit them.
  2. Register the property with NTAK, the national tourism data platform.
  3. Display the registration number on every listing.
  4. Note that Budapest-wide has a moratorium on NEW registrations through end of 2026 — existing registered listings can continue.
